TEHRAN - In a bid to make cultural heritage sites more accessible, the UNESCO-listed Golestan Palace organized a specialized tour for deaf visitors on Friday, as part of the International Week of the Deaf celebrations. 

The tour, conducted in collaboration with a service organization for the hearing impaired, offered a unique and tailored experience for its participants.

This exclusive visit is part of Golestan Palace’s ongoing efforts to create inclusive cultural programs and increase accessibility for individuals with disabilities. 

During the tour, participants were guided through the historical site, which dates back to the Qajar era, with communication facilitated by trained sign language interpreters. 

As mentioned by organizers, special attention was given to explaining the cultural and historical significance of the palace, one of the oldest and most magnificent structures in Tehran.

The Golestan Palace, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2013, is renowned for its intricate architecture, lush gardens, and stunning collections of Iranian art and artifacts. The site management’s decision to organize this exclusive event underscores a commitment to making Iran’s rich cultural heritage accessible to all citizens, regardless of physical limitations.

As part of the tour, visitors had the opportunity to explore key areas of the palace, including its famous Marble Throne and dazzling Mirror Hall. The event was also designed to promote awareness about the importance of inclusivity in cultural and public spaces.
